I posted this on my blog a while back.I swear, it made me smile and smile to hear it.I walked around singing and whistling and humming it for days."Life's a piece of shit when you look at it."Ah, me. I love that lyric. My father was a huge Monty Python fan. He and my mother were true anglophiles, obsessed with all things British, maybe partially because my mother's had a life long pen pal in Britain--they've been writing to each other since before they were both married ladies--and my parents were lucky enough to travel to England several times to visit.Gosh, my parents had a good time together.I can almost hear my father whistling this tune. He was a gifted--if one can be gifted in such a thing--whistler.You made me smile. Thank for that, friend. And, you made me miss my dad, but without the ache. Thank you for that, too.
Glad it made you smile, Laurel, and that it brought back memories of your father without that ache that so often accompanies memories of those we've lost.I've been going around whistling it and singing it since I thought about it the other day. I was thinking life's a piece of shit and Monty Python automatically came to mind...glad it did. It helps to just lighten up.
"Life's a piece of shit when you look at it."LOL. My fav.
This song just makes me smile and smile and smile. I have been going around singing it daily since I posted it the other night.Last night a friend was over, and when we came inside to get another glass of wine, I brought her back here to the computer room and showed her the video. She's a Monty Python person but had forgotten about this scene and song.We were both laughing and whistling along, and though we had been discussing some troubling events and issues, we couldn't keep from smiling.
